Acid-loving plants
Veg beds & poor soil
Compost
Our compost pallets hold everything from everyday multi-purpose compost for pots, baskets and seed sowing to John Innes blends and growbags for tomatoes and veg. We stock peat-free options from Westland, so you can garden greener without losing results.
Decorative bark
A layer of bark keeps weeds down, holds moisture in the soil and gives borders a neat, finished look. Choose fine mini bark for small borders and pots, chunky chipped bark for beds, or large landscape bark for paths and play areas.
Ericaceous
Rhododendrons, azaleas, camellias, pieris, heathers and blueberries need lime-free, acidic compost to stay healthy. Ericaceous compost keeps their leaves green and their flowers at their best, in pots or in the ground.
Manure & soil improvers
Good soil grows better plants. Dig in farmyard manure or soil improver to add organic matter, improve the structure of clay and sandy soils, and give veg beds, roses and new borders a boost.

Questions
ACW Garden Centre on Canal Road, Bradford BD2 1AL stocks peat-free multi-purpose compost, John Innes and ericaceous compost, growbags, top soil, decorative bark, farmyard manure and soil improver.
Yes. We stock Westland peat-free multi-purpose compost alongside our other composts, bark and soil improvers.
Ericaceous compost is lime-free and acidic. Use it for acid-loving plants such as rhododendrons, azaleas, camellias, pieris, heathers, skimmias and blueberries, especially when growing them in pots.
For weed control, spread bark about 5 to 7cm deep. A 70 litre bag covers roughly 1 to 1.4 square metres at that depth. Measure your border and our team will help you work out how many bags you need.
Autumn and early spring are the best times. Dig farmyard manure or soil improver into veg beds and borders, or spread it on top as a mulch around roses and shrubs.
Our compost, bark and manure are sold in store at Canal Road. For larger quantities, call us on 01274 392344.
